The City of St. Cloud’s Nutrient & Energy Recovery Project was selected for the 2020 PISCES Exceptional Project Award in the Innovative Financing category. St. Cloud’s project was one of five in the nation selected for this level of recognition and is the first Minnesota project in history to receive a PISCES Exceptional Project Award.

Donohue and the City of St. Cloud received the 2021 Grand Conceptor Award for their collaborative efforts on the Nutrient Recovery and Reuse (NR2) project. This prestigious award is presented to the highest scoring project in ACEC Minnesota’s engineering excellence competition. Entries were judged based on originality and innovation; future value to the engineering profession; social, economic and sustainable design considerations; complexity; and meeting the client’s needs.

MWEA 2021 Wastewater Administrators’ Conference Features Holland, Michigan Solids Handling Project Thumbnail

Donohue’s *Trent Montemayor* and *Theo VanAken*, Holland Board of Public Works (HBPW), will be co-presenting “*Creating a Solids Future*” on January 22, 2021, during the virtual Michigan WEA 2021 Wastewater Administrators’ Conference. This presentation will explore the key project planning decisions made in tackling challenges faced by the HBPW. The Holland Area Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) is a 12-million-gallon-per-day high purity oxygen activated sludge treatment facility located along the coastline of scenic Lake Macatawa. Historically, the WRF has managed its solids through a combination of landfill disposal and land application of Class B biosolids. In order to reduce financial, operational, and regulatory risks, HBPW evaluated options for improving its solids handling processes.

Kam P. Law, Ph.D., PE, ENV SP joins Donohue & Associates as a Senior Project Manager and Practice Leader: Wastewater Innovations. In this key leadership role, Kam will work directly with our wastewater clients to understand and address their needs and lead project teams. She brings 25 years of industry experience as a wastewater process engineer for facilities in the Upper Midwest and across the U.S. As the Practice Leader for Wastewater Innovations, she will work to advance the wastewater field, guiding Donohue teams and our clients in their efforts to effectively employ and implement innovative and emerging technologies and practices.
