US Highway 10 Urban Street Reconstruction

This urban street reconstruction project located in downtown Manitowoc included new storm sewers, sidewalks, pavement width adjustments, and pavement design. Streetscaping elements including decorative pavement, curb bump-outs and decorative lighting were incorporated the design.
The project required extensive coordination with the City, private utilities, the WIDOT Bureau of Equity and Environmental Services, and the State Historic Preservation Office regarding historic buildings and a historic district. Two public meetings and individual landowner meetings were held to coordinate the construction sequencing and temporary right-of-way needs. The construction documents and detouring were coordinated with water main and sanitary sewer replacements and with the Lake Michigan Car Ferry schedule.
