Sara Arabi, Ph.D., P. Eng., BCEE joins Donohue & Associates with 13 years of experience in environmental consulting, research, and process engineering for water/wastewater treatment. She will serve as a Lead Process Engineer based out of the Chicago office.

Sara’s primary background and area of expertise are wastewater treatment plant design and optimization for municipal and industrial applications including the food and beverage sector. Her specific expertise includes design, optimization, and troubleshooting of biological nutrient removal plants, computer simulation using BioWin, bench and pilot treatability studies, membrane processes, upgrade and capacity assessment, and cost estimates.
A Professional Engineer and a Board Certified Environmental Engineer, Sara has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Iran, a master’s of business administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Western University in Canada. She actively participates in industry organizations including the Water Environment Federation (WEF), Illinois Water Environment Association (IWEA), and Central States Water Environment Association (CSWEA).
